Topside Paints: Last Look

For a one-part white paint, Interlux Toplac is tops. But after four years, the two-part coverings reign.


In 2001, we painted a 13-foot Whaler with 39 paints, creating a “bracelet” of red, white, blue, yellow, green, and brown squares around the outside of the hull.
Powerboat Reports readers who have been with us a few years may remember a topside paint test first reported in the February 2002 issue. We published an update in the January 2004 issue (we actually called it a finale back then, but thought one last look would offer some beneficial information). This is our final look at these paints—really. The 13-foot Boston Whaler upon which they’ve been showcased is going to be returning to its its accustomed light gray for its upcoming 39th year in the water. …
