Roll-Up Inflatable Boats: Mercury Unbeatable

Mercury bests six others with excellent control, a dry ride, and the lowest price. The Bombard AX2 is a fun little boat, but short on interior space. The West Marine RU-260 is big, but expensive.


Even with just a 3.3-hp two-stroke outboard, these inflatables can nearly make it up on a plane. But speed is not as important to us as stability and interior volume.
Inflatables have come a long way in a short time. Take a look at the Zodiac CZ7. The CZ7, which stands for Civilian Zodiac 7 meter, can travel 50-plus mph, can handle up to 300 horsepower, is filled with nice soft cushions, and can house the latest in electronics with room to spare. It sells for just under $200,000 with a pair of 150-hp outboards.
