Big-Screen Chartplotters Under $2,000

Standard Horizon is right on target with its highly rated CP1000C. It bests two other value-priced 10-inch plotters.


The Standard Horizon has it all: a keypad for easy data input, good viewability during the day, a reasonable price, and a good warranty.
Last month Powerboat Reports reviewed four pricey large-screen chartplotters that touted a long list of options. This month, we take a look at three more big-screen plotters. But these are more affordable—less than $2,000.

We tested three 10-inch color chartplotters, one each from Lowrance, SI-TEX, and Standard Horizon. Tulsa-based Lowrance Electronics supplied us with a GlobalMap 7000C equipped with a WAAS GPS module and a 64-megabyte Navionics map card. SI-TEX loaned us its ColorMax 11. Standard Horizon several months ago loaned us a demo unit for testing. Our tester used our own C-Map NT card covering south Florida for cartography in both the SI-TEX and Standard Horizon. …
