Outboard Recalls

Yamaha and Suzuki have issued voluntary recalls to take care of some teething pains with their large four-stroke outboards.


Yamaha has recalled its 200- and 225-hp engines (model years 2002, 2003, 2004) and Suzuki has recalled its 200- 225- and 250-hp four-strokes (2004 and 2005 models).
Take a look at the numbers in this month’s 250-hp shoot-out and it’s obvious that four-stroke outboards are getting cleaner, quieter, and peppier every year. But that doesn’t mean they’re immune to nagging growing pains. Two manufacturers are smoothing out some of their engine’s rough edges.

Yamaha has issued a voluntary recall to have the throttle linkage system replaced in its 200- and 225-hp four-strokes, model years 2002, 2003, and 2004.
