Bottom Paints: Pettit Takes 1st Prize in Two Tests
Pettit’s Trinidad SR and Vivid look darn good—and they cost substantially less than their competitors.

The Pettit Vivid (above) allowed less soft growth than the E Paint EP2000. The growth on each hull section was easily removed with a soft brush.
In addition to our annual bottom paint test (results are published annually in the March issue), were trying out a few of the top-performing paints on two test boats here in Sarasota, FL. On the 21-foot Neptune, weve got Pettit Trinidad SR on half of the bottom and Interlux Micron 66 on the other half. To keep things fair, one paint covers the port bow and starboard stern sections and the other the starboard bow and port stern sections.
