Express Cruiser Cabins

We rate the interior accommodations of a half-dozen popular express cruisers. None wowed us, but Chaparral and Larson ranked highest in areas of convenience, safety and use of space.


The lid of the one-burner stove on this Regal 2765 slides inside the counter and out of the way, which is good. But look at how close the faucet is to the stove. Water could flow into the recessed space that houses the stove. We’d move the faucet to the forward outboard corner of the sink.
After six sea trials in three consecutive days at the Miami International Boat Show this February, we looked forward to a day inside the convention center and out of the south Florida sun. Our assignment: inspect, photograph and write about the interior components of express cruisers in the 30-foot range—heads, galleys, berths, dinettes, etc.

We wanted to find out which manufacturers were putting a decent amount of thought into their accommodations below. After all, the cabin of an express cruiser is as important as the sail on a sailboat. …
