Triton 2700 Center Console

Move over Grady, Pursuit, Regulator. This nicely finished, dry-riding fishboat deserves consideration in the cutthroat center console market. The boat needs better access to its aluminum fuel tank, however.


We ran the Triton hard in search of bad habits.
ûWe found none. The 2700 handled predictably,
ûgiving us a soft, dry ride off of Miami, FL. Steer-
ûing needs to be more responsive, though. It is
nearly seven wheel turns from lock to lock.

When you think Triton, you think freshwater bass boats. But this young Ashland City, TN, builder’s recent expansion into the saltwater market was inevitable, considering its president’s strong connection to the sea.

“I grew up throwing a cast net, using live shrimp and catching redfish, said Earl Bentz, who hails from Charleston, SC. “Today, I can leave the dock and be in the ocean in 7 minutes.”

Bentz’s company faces some stiff competition in a center-console market stacked with names like Pursuit, Grady-White, Mako, Contender, Regulator, Hydra-Sports and Boston Whaler. …
