Yamaha Edges Honda In Big Four-Stroke Shootout
Both are impressive, but over the long haul we’d opt for the Yamaha. Besides holding a slight performance edge, Yamaha offers a 3-year extended warranty and has more than twice as many service centers nationwide.

Normally, setting up a test in which we operate two different motors on identical boats is a logistical nightmare, one that takes dozens of phone calls, the cooperation of two engine manufacturers and a boatbuilder, and sometimes flying to a test site in the middle of nowhere. We lucked out this time. At Februarys Miami International Boat Show, a Honda engineer pointed out that both the Honda BF225 and Yamaha F225 four-strokes were mounted on identical 23' saltwater flats boats.
