EdgeWater 225: Performing Double-Duty

This well-built center console serves as an effective fishing platform and day boat. But is a 22-footer really worth nearly $44K (retail)? We find out.


The EdgeWater 225 cut through Ponce De
ûLeon (FL) inlet's 5-foot sloppy chop easily. We
ûtested it with a 250-Yamaha, but the boat was
ûdesigned with Yamaha's 200-hp HPDI out-
ûboard in mind.

Many boat owners, including us, call on our vessels to perform double-duty. Ours primarily serves as a fishing platform; a spacious cockpit, livewell, effective nonskid and a dependable outboard are essential. But after fishing all night, the boat also must be easily cleaned up and readied for a family day trip the next day, with comfortable seating, dry storage and a walk-in head.
